Crown reductions, thinning, lifting and pollarding for all species. Keeping your trees healthy, safe and looking their best across Surrey and Hampshire.

Expert Tree Pruning & Crown Work in Farnham & Beyond

Regular tree pruning is one of the best things you can do for the long-term health and appearance of your trees.

Carried out correctly and at the right time of year, it improves structure, promotes healthy growth and reduces the risk of branches failing. Our NPTC-qualified arborists carry out all crown work to British Standard BS 3998 across Farnham, Surrey and Hampshire.

We work with all species - from native oaks and beeches to ornamental cherries, fruit trees and evergreen conifers. Every tree is different, and we tailor our approach to what each individual tree needs rather than applying a one-size-fits-all method.

Types of Crown Work We Carry Out

Crown Reduction reduces the overall size of a tree's canopy while maintaining its natural shape. It's typically used when a tree has outgrown its space or is causing issues with light, views or proximity to structures. Cuts are made to suitable growth points to encourage a natural, healthy response.

Crown Thinning removes selected branches from within the canopy to improve light penetration and airflow without altering the overall size or shape of the tree. It's particularly useful for dense-canopied trees and helps reduce wind resistance.

Crown Lifting raises the lower canopy by removing or shortening the lowest branches. This is commonly used to improve clearance over roads, paths, driveways and buildings, or simply to let more light reach the ground beneath the tree.

Pollarding is a more significant reduction technique that involves removing all growth back to a set framework of branches. It's appropriate for certain species - including willows, limes and planes - and produces vigorous new growth from the cut points. Once started, pollarding needs to be repeated on a regular cycle to remain effective and aesthetically pleasing.

Deadwood Removal involves removing dead, dying or diseased branches from the crown. Deadwood can fall without warning and poses a risk to people and property below, so it's an important part of keeping any tree safe.
