Sustainable Woodland Management

Good woodland management starts with understanding what you have and what you want to achieve. We'll walk the site with you, assess the condition of the trees, identify any structural or safety issues and discuss your goals - whether that's improving biodiversity, maximising timber production, creating access, or simply maintaining what's already there in good health.

From there we put together a practical programme of work. This might include selective felling to thin overcrowded stands and allow retained trees to grow to their full potential, removal of diseased or poorly formed specimens, or work to restore structure and light to areas that have become dominated by a single species.

Coppicing & Traditional Woodland Practices

Coppicing is one of the oldest forms of woodland management and remains one of the most effective ways to regenerate native woodland, encourage ground flora and create a diverse, structurally varied habitat.

We can carry out coppicing on a range of species including hazel, ash, sweet chestnut and hornbeam, working on a rotation that suits your woodland and your objectives.

Tree Planting

Whether you're establishing a new woodland, replanting after felling, or adding trees to a hedgerow or field boundary, we can advise on species selection and carry out the planting itself.

We favour native and locally appropriate species where possible, and will always recommend planting that suits your soil type, location and long-term aims. We can supply bare-root or pot-grown stock depending on the time of year and the scale of the project.
